European Bowls championships 2022
Pairs and Triples Finals -Results-
Following on from the semi finals, of the ladies and gents pairs and triples the 3rd place playoffs and finals were played on the afternoon of Monday 11 July 2022. The players were again to display great bowling, all again, played in a great spirit.
3rd Place Playoffs
Pairs
Women
Scotland (Emma Mcintyre & Rachael Sinclair) played against Wales (Alls Butten and Bethan Russ). Scotland got off to a flying start, building up a 7 shot lead by the 6th end. They drove on from their and never relinquished control of the game going on to win the game 25-8
3rd Place – Scotland.
Men
Ireland (Stuart Bennet & Stephen Kirkwood) played against Scotland Scotland (Jason Banks & John Fleming Jnr.).
Similar to the womens pairs, Scotland managed to build up a 7 shot lead by the 8th end. From their the won the next 8 ends to win 25-4 after 15 ends.
3rd Place – Scotland.
Triples
Women
Wales (Lauren Gowen, Hannah Williams & Melanie Thomas) played against Scotland (Kimbereley Dodds, Dawn Anderson & Megan Grantham). At the halfway stage Scotland had built up an 8 shot lead. Despite a great fight back by Wales, closing within 3 shots on the 14th end, Scotland stayed in front going on to win 18-15.
3rd Place – Scotland.
Men
England (Lee Calver, Jordan Philpott & Harry Goodwin) played against Israel (Zvika Hadar, Selwyn Hare & Allan Saitowitz). By end 9, Israel built up an 11 shot lead. Despite a galant fight back, by England, Israel went on to win 23-16.

Finals
Pairs
Women
Ireland (Sarah Kelly & Shauna O’Neill) played against England (Emma Cooper and Stef Branfield). Ireland took an early lead going ito a 6-1 lead by the 5th end only for England to win the next 3 ends to draw level on the 8th end. Ireland went onto build up another lead of 6 shots on the 16th end (15-9). England came back at Ireland and after 18 ends the score was 15-15, forcing the game into an extra end. England managed to get the shot and win the very exciting game.

Men
Guernsey (Matt Solway & Todd Priaulx) played against England (Tom McGuinness & Edward Morris). On the 9th end England took 13-6 lead. in the 10th & 11th End Guernsey scored 5 shots to close the gap back to just 2 shots. England then scored 3 shots in the next 2 ends to go 19-14 up going into the last end. Needing to score a 5 to force the game into an extra end, they only managed to score 3, meaning England won 19-17.

Triples
Women
England (Ruby Hill, Laura Holden & Lorraine Kuhler) played against Ireland (Ashley Rainey, Lara Reaney & Chloe Wilson). The match was a bit of a see-saw game up to 13the end when were in the lead by 9 shots to 7. In the 14th and 15th end Ireland scored a 4 and a 2 to take a 13-9 lead. Going into the last end Ireland had maintained their 4 shots lead. England managed only 2 of the 4 shots they needed to force an extra end meaning Ireland won 13-11.

Men
Ireland (Aaron Tennant, Gary Kelly & Mark Wilson) played against Scotland (Blair Davidson, Mark O’Hagan & Connor Milne). After a very tight first few ends, Ireland managed to pull ahead by 4 shots. In the 12th end, managed to maintain the 4 shot lead (13-9). Scotland managed to pull back to within two shots by the 15th end. Ireland however, then went on to score a 2 and then a 3 in the 16th and 17th end to go 7 shots up, making it impossible for Scotland to win (19-12)
